Building a House

A couple months ago we were looking in Keller, TX because they have some of the best schools in our location and it was named the 7th best place to live in America by Money Magazine.  We looked at a "master planned community" called Heritage that was just about completed except one small phase that didn't even have roads yet.

Recently we drove past there again, saw that they were building a model/some spec homes and the roads were complete.  I contacted the two builders on the sign and set up appointments to talk to them about the community.  The builders are David Weekly Homes & Highland Homes, both are large builders with high scores for JD Power Awards.  They have sold one or two lots in the community called Elm Fork but have not started building homes for those lots that were sold, yet.  So we had almost the entire community to choose from, but I insisted on being on a cul-de-sac like we are now for the safety of the kids & for GREAT resale in the future.  Because there are only 3 cul-de-sac streets that really limited our choices and they really put a premium on those cul-de-sac lots!  One builder put a $25,000 premium on one of the lots!  YIKES!

We really wanted a 3 car garage like we have currently but that really isn't an option in this new community, the lots here are TINY!  Only approx 50ft across the front and about 110 ft down the sides, almost impossible for a 3 car garage.  We are hoping we have enough space to get a new playset for the twins.  This will be a big adjustment for all of us but less yard work and the kids will be in a great school district!

Last night we put a deposit on building a house with David Weekly homes.  Here is their website:  http://www.davidweekleyhomes.com/new-homes/tx/dallas-ft-worth/ft-worth/heritage-elm-fork/heritage-elm-fork they are still tweaking it for our community so the floorplans might not come up yet.  We hope to build the  floorplan called The Kale it is 2332 sqft, it is not listed here yet so we are not positive of the pricing just yet.  We are currently in 1726sq ft, so it will be nice to have the extra space inside!

I have enrolled the twins in a preschool called Reading Friends of Aledo, they will start in September.  It was not easy to find an actual preschool, so many are day cares that also do some teaching and numerous ones are religious based which we did not want.  This school is Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9-12 just perfect!  It will be a longer drive now but worth it for how kind the owner has been.   http://readingfriends.org/
