Another Call From the Hospital

this morning. I had called yesterday & left a message that we would only be able to do psychology therapy 2 days per week as per the insurance company but the other therapies 5 days a week.

The woman informed me that as part of this Day Patient Therapy, psychology therapy is REQUIRED 5 days a week. I said our insurance only covers 2 days per week, she said that they would bill our family for the rest.  I asked how much that would cost, she said between $80 - $100 a day per child!  I said, wait a second!  That would be about $300 per week per child or $600 a week for the twins, over 5 wks that is another $3000 on top of the $1100 we would already be paying!!!  That is over $4100!!!  She said that we needed to weigh what was important for our family and decide.  I said I want what is best for our kids & having a roof over their heads is best!

I explained to her our finances (or lack of) & she said that everyone is having hardships these days & the hospital can not be flexible, these are their fees.  I bet she does hear our sob story many times a day.

We have thought about getting Bill's insurance at his job since it is open enrollment time, but now this therapy would be a pre-existing condition.  A friend recommended a flexible spending account through Bill's work that is a good idea but we couldn't afford to have that $350 taken out of Bill's check each month for a year!

We are going to try to go to Tri-Care's office soon & talk to them in person to see if there is something else they can do.

When I told the woman that we would not be able to afford the Day Patient Therapy, she wished us luck.  We may still do the 2 or 3 days a week therapy, just not sure about any of this anymore!

We have asked & begged for help for almost a year now.  We have expressed our concerns about Ryan's weight & the twins not eating age appropriate foods.  We have had lots of tests ran & asked for more help.  Finally when someone sees that we need help & are offering it, we can't do it.  Just makes me sick!
