The psychologist called a little while ago. She said that the feeding assessment team is looking into another idea since the inpatient therapy isn't an option with our insurance, it would be Day Outpatient. I would take the twins Monday-Friday to Dallas at 8:30 in the morning until about 5 in the afternoon. The therapy would be the same as inpatient but we would go home each day. The twins would be seen by an Occupational Therapist, a Speech Therapist & a Psychologist each day for 5 wks. The psychologist feels that both Ryan & Jordan need "intense therapy" those were her exact words. Guess we have done some damage....
They said during this therapy day the twins would have 4 meals, they would limit this time to 25 minutes per meal. They said this is not easy for some kids to tolerate at the beginning, so some kids refuse to eat which would require a feeding tube to be inserted to prevent dehydration & get them proper vitamins.
So much to take in, we just don't know what to think. Sadly alot of this is going to depend on our insurance co-pays. They could bill us 3 co-pays a day for each therapy service for each child which would be $1800 over 5 wks or they could just bill us one co-pay per day for each child which is better at $600 but still out of our budget. Why? Why? Why?
We have decided to try for the refinancing of our house. The application fee is $400 this covers the appraisal (which is good for 6 months). Please keep your fingers crossed that this goes through, it would save us about $230 a month!
We will keep you updated as far as what is happening.......
