Maybe.
A friend suggested for us to inquire about a Medical Savings Plan through Bill's work where "X" amount of money would be taken from Bill's paycheck each pay period for the entire year & that $$ would go towards medical expenses. Well he works for a small company & they do not offer that kind of Plan.
We have Tri-Care insurance (for military families active duty or retired) which is a great insurance, has an EXTREMELY LOW yearly premium, no deductible & has very low co-pays but when you are talking multiple therapies a day, many days a week, times two kids, times several weeks= Alot of $$ for co-pays.
Bill talked to his boss today & their insurance has no monthly/yearly premium BUT they have a $1000 deductible and then after that we would have to pay 20% of the full cost of services. We did a little math & if we got Bill's insurance with his current employer the very least that we would pay for Outpatient Therapy for 5 days a wk for 5 wks would be a probably close to $3000. We are not willing to do this.
We have decided that we will not pay out of pocket more than $1500. We can't afford that but we will just take it out of our savings account. So we will do therapy 2 days a week for approx 10 wks (if need be). And hopefully that will give the twins the help that they need.
We appreciate every one's concern with what we are going through it means so much to me & all the wonderful suggestions that so many have shared. This entire situation has been so stressful we don't want to add more stress by jumping through hoops, begging, researching or any other measures to get Inpatient Therapy or Day Outpatient Therapy. We have never liked the idea of driving over an hr one way each day of the week for 5 weeks through the winter months, this is such a high risk and this therapy wouldn't be worth it if we got into an accident.
There a couple things about Inpatient & Day Patient therapy that we didn't agree with and we are not sure if we like the attitude of the psychology therapist, so after discussing it we feel that it is not best for our family. We will give the two days a week therapy a try and if we feel it doesn't fit out kids needs we will stop. Also, if they can not get us appts that work with the kids naps, then we will not go at all. When the kids only get a car nap, the rest of the day is a nightmare & so is the following day or so. We just feel that getting 2 car naps a week will keep the kids super tired all week long & they will be grumpy monkeys constantly- NO THANKS!!
Bill & I are people who believe that things happen for a reason & if the twins were meant to have Inpatient or Outpatient Day Therapy, then we shouldn't have to work so hard for it to happen. Maybe they are meant to only do therapy 2 days per week.
We are going ahead with the refinance of our house. Hopefully we will know something by the end of the month. After we find out if we get to refinance or not, then we will refinance my Pathfinder to save a little more each month.
